There's currently an advertising campaign running on TV and I'm not really sure what's being advertised. It looks like they're trying to sell cars; but I've never heard of the company - Garmin; maybe it's a car insurance company, or offers some sort of special financing...I don't know. However, the advert could also be trying to sell mail order products, make-up, electrical goods or even satnav systems...I'll not be purchasing anything from the above list though.

Does advertising work?

Perhaps all they want is for people like us to discuss it and maybe google it? In which case their advert has worked - I now know that it's a GPS system, but like you I'm not planning to buy one any time soon.

I've googled it too. On the results page it mentions GPS systems, but then when I went to the Garmin page I was still quite confused; it wasn't very clear what they actually made.

They're not worried by that. It's "Brand Awareness" they want, then if, when you are looking to buy a product they make or market, you compare brands, you may be more inclined to buy the one whose brand name you are familiar with than one you're not.
It's all subtle stuff nowadays ...

Easy mate, garmins are sat nav, next time you see it, it will be very clear, there singing about being lost and finding your way to the salon to have her unibrow waxed.
Merry Christmas (sorry "non-religion specific holiday period") Lee and everyone here at the blogs
