Yesterday morning I received my Employment Assessment Report from the Yorkshire and the Humber Work Psychology Service at Sheffield.
Here are the highlights:
'He has a wide range of skills, excellent timekeeping and many qualifications to support the types of employment he is interested in pursuing. Lee's main difficulty in finding employment appears to be his manner of communication (e.g. how it could be misinterpreted by others) and unhelpful thinking styles.'
'It is also apparent that Lee may have been underselling his skills on job applications and thus serves to maintain his situation.'
'...has a good insight into some of the difficulties he has been experiencing.'
'Lee is likely to benefit from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to challenge these thinking biases.'
'He would also benefit from some training around communication skills to help him socialise and communicate better with people.'
'The work preparation scheme or work placements would be very valuable to Lee.'
'Results from the assessment exercises suggest the possible existence of some visual difficulties...words moving about and standing off the page...ocular motility or binocularity...coloured filters...coloured spectacles...'Intuitive Colorimeter.'
A copy of the report has also been sent to the Disabilty Employment Advisor at Doncaster Jobcentre, and I've got an appointment to see her at the beginning of next month.
