I've blogged several times before about I think that the rate of inflation is actually much higher than the official government statistics show; well, now I've noticed another scam where, rather than increase prices, some companies are reducing the size of their packs or portions in order to keep the official rate of inflation down to a minimum. This practice is grossly unfair to people on benefits or a pension whose income is directly linked to the government figures which will be even more inaccurate, showing a much lower rate than is truly the case.

You are right this has been on the go for a few years now but it is surely not Browns fault.

I disagree about it not being Gordon Brown's fault. he's the head of a government which is deliberately distorting inflation figures...allowances could be easily made for smaller pack and portion sizes when calculating the figures.

He is not changing the size of Mars Bars my friend.

No he isn't; but he's not telling the people who calculate the inflation figures to add a fraction of a percentage point either...or, adding a few pounds a week in benefit and pension payments to cover the cost of this practice...and it's not just Mars bars; it's bread cakes and pastries, tins of baked beans, ready meals; and rather more sneakily cartons of milk which once were a pint (568mls) or now only half a litre.

That is marketing by the companies not by Brown.
I do agree that the figures are fixed but not in this case.
It seems to me that in the press, if the bus is late, it's Browns fault and that is wrong.
The alternative to Labour does not bare thinking about.Benefits will be cut and even stopped. Check out the tory policies on benefit.-

I was shocked a few years ago to see that a pack of 10 pounds of potatoes had actually reduced to 7 pounds! And it was the same price! Shocking!

The government always lies about inflation. And earnings. And unemployment. And, well everything really. It's time we organised things fromthe bottom up, instead of appointing alien overlords like Brown.
