This fact I know to be true from personal experience earlier this morning; strawberries - the uglier they are, the sweeter they taste.

This is indeed true. They are natural strawberries not those dreadful same shape, same size tasteless things stocked in most supermarkets. I bought a punnet of very lumpy strawberries yesterday and they are delicous

Very true. And the deeper red they are, the sweeter they are.
Unfortunately, by the time they get to that stage in my garden the slugs have already sampled them!
