My social services key worker has just informed me that I've been granted a mobility bus pass: the paperwork is in the post.
It's only valid on buses in South Yorkshire; but it does mean that I can access services based in Sheffield and use it for days out walking.

I've just been checking the validity online, and if it's a mobility pass it's valid on all buses, trains and trams in South Yorkshire and for train services after 09:30 a.m. to destinations in West Yorkshire [stopping trains only] and local bus routes across England. So it's a lot better than I thought - I'll be able to visit the museums in Leeds and travel to the moors the other side of Barnsley...or Ilkley...or York (via Selby)......
Wonderful; and it's valid for two yrars initially.
